Yoga for Back
Care
with Shari Ser, P.T.
Monday Afternoon, 4:00–5:30pm, Level 1–3
Tuesday Afternoon, 4:30–5:30pm, Level 1
Private Sessions available
Yoga
is often prescribed as a treatment by medical professionals
or as a way to cure back challenges by well-meaning family
or friends. For individuals with no yoga experience, taking
a regular yoga class may be more harmful than helpful if they
do not have the tools or knowledge to protect their backs.
Shari Ser is a physical therapist as well as a yoga teacher
who specializes in teaching her students safe ways to participate
and enjoy yoga. She teaches a Level 1–3 class on Monday
afternoons from 4:00–5:30pm which is intended for individuals
with back challenges who are otherwise fit. Her Tuesday afternoon
Level 1 class from 4:30–5:30pm is appropriate for those
who require a slower, gentler approach to yoga.
If you are suffering an acute injury or flare-up, or are
in chronic pain, a private yoga session—by appointment
only—would be more advisable. If your needs are more
complex than can be addressed in a general class, a private
session may also be indicated.

Gentle Yoga Program for Back and Neck Pain Relief, by
Mary Pullig Schatz, MD, (Rodmell Press, 1992), is available
at The Yoga Room for the special price of $5.00 (retail price,
$21.95).
Unfortunately, no health insurance is accepted. Individuals
in acute or chronic pain should consult their health care
providers before attending classes with Shari. For more information,
please call Shari in the evenings at 510–549–9194.
