YOGA FOR A
HEALTHY SACRUM
with Shari Ser, P.T.
Monday Evening, 7:30–9:00pm
January 7–February 11, 2008
6 weeks / $108
This 6-week course is intended for yoga teachers and for students
who experience pain or discomfort in the sacroiliac joint.
In this class, we will review the anatomy of the sacrum, pelvis,
and lumbar spine, and the function of the sacroiliac joints.
We will explore ways of practicing poses that alleviate sacroiliac
discomfort and encourage a stable, healthy sacrum. The series
will be organized so that each class covers a different asana
focus, including standing poses, forward bends, backbends,
and twists. Anatomy information will be interwoven into each
class.
Shari Ser is a member of the Yoga Room Advanced Studies Faculty
and teaches Anatomy II, Yoga and Kinesiology, and beginning
yoga classes for students with orthopedic challenges. She
has been a practicing physical therapist since 1983, and an
Iyengar yoga student since 1980.
